About us: Frank and Lucy

About Us: Frank and Lucy - a father and daughter who absolutely love writing, and the writing process. They often joke that they are actually two versions of the same person, like the Frankenstein monster of Mary Shelley’s book, one person made from the framework of multiple. They are not a Frankenstein monster (more like a FrankAndLucy monster, jokingly named “PhranqenLu”, but more on that another time), as much as they are a story-producing machine. They love everything about the process and want to share the entire experience with you! They want to show you how simple it is (which is not the same thing as easy) to discover a story of your own.

Frank and Lucy have been working on world building since 2016 and have been creating and developing characters as part of the backdrop of that world since then. There is no special training or schooling required to come up with a story of your own. There is no college which can teach imagination or creativity. There is no university that can instill a desire to write. Frank and Lucy know if you have the itch, you probably have the story ready to burst out of you.

Of course, there is a lot of work that goes into writing a story. If it were easy, as they say, everyone would do it. If you can read and write, you can put a story together. It is as simple as your own imagination. But, again, “simple” and “easy” do not mean the same thing. Creating a story is super simple, and with a little discipline and a touch of organization, creating a story can become writing a story. And that is where Frank and Lucy come in.

They are so excited about the story and the world they get to discover together. Not just because they get to write and create, though that is certainly part of it. And not just because they get to share that story, and the world in which it happens, with you (though that is also a part of it). It is because they have stumbled across a system of creation that anyone and everyone can use. If you ever daydream or carry on conversations with anyone in your head (and it doesn’t matter if the person you are talking to is real or imaginary), you already have the raw material needed to begin story-weaving.

If you are an avid reader, and you find yourself waiting for the next book in a series to come out, you are in a perfect place to begin considering writing your own story! If you have read a book, or worse yet, a series of books, more than once because you haven’t found another series you like as much as that series, it is time to invest in yourself! Frank and Lucy are not suggesting you invest tons of money. Writing a story cost very little and can almost always be done with the materials you have on hand.

Paper is cheap. Pens and pencils can be found for next to nothing. And if you have a computer or a phone (or heaven forbid, both!), then you are ready to go! There are authors “out there” who have written stories, books, and even helped develop movies, who started with little more than a phone and an idea. But let’s be honest. You know you have everything you need to get started. It is not what you don’t have, but need, that has kept you from writing this whole time. It is what you do have, but need to get rid of, that is your biggest obstacle.

You have fear, but that can be faced. You have excuses, perhaps learned from someone who downplayed your efforts. You have distractions and life, which can be worked around and navigated. You have other priorities, which can be re-ordered. There are, no doubt, other things which stand in the way of you lowering your defenses and letting the inner writer come to life.

Whatever it is, it is time to make the decision to be the author. Let writing come alive, and let it change your life! Look past the here and the now, and peer into what could be for you and your imagination!

Frank and Lucy believe the real change that can come from writing happens when an author is born by anyone who is willing to put aside everything that has been holding him or her back, and letting that author express the story within. Let him or her out, and let the story change you! This page is about Frank and Lucy, but it is dedicated to you, the author-yet-to-be-born! So perhaps the “About Us” page should be called the “Just for You” page. If you want to truly get to know Frank and Lucy, all you must do is dive into the writing process and let them show you how much fun setting the author who lives within you free!
